Health Feature: Ayurvedic Acupuncture

Very few know that Acupuncture existed in ancient India, it was called Succikarma or "needle action". The science of marmas or vital points has been described thousands of years before Christ by the Charaka Samhita and then in much more detail by Susruta Samhita. There are many other traditions and texts that cover many ways of treating disease using these vital points. Today the tradition to treat using Marma points is still alive in Kerala state of India. Succikarma which was the Father of Acupuncture has now been revived by Dr. Frank Ros in the writing of this book. Many centers have been setup, the results are exceptional and one day soon this will be an accepted part of Ayurveda as acupuncture is to Traditional Chinese Medicine. How did it reach China from India you ask ? Simple via Nalanda University where the Buddhist scholars came from all parts of the far and near east.
Featuring - Sanskrit Dictionaries

A Sanskrit dictionary is an essential aid for every scholar and even layman in the language as Sanskrit is much more prolific that you can imagine, so many words in English have rooted in Sanskrit roots. On the note of Sanskrit dictionaries, we leave you with a very fascinating article to read on this subject which explains why Sanskrit was introduced at Oxford University, considered the world's greatest university. Vedic Society News: Nepal Somayagya 2011

It is with much delight that on this day we announce our plan to perform a Mahasomayajña in Nepal.
This will be the 2nd in a series of 108 Somayajñas. For anyone having visited Nepal you will see and know it is one of the most beautiful and mystical countries in the world though despite all it's greatness and wonderment, it has suffered greatly with political turmoil and until recently a huge amount of bloodshed and violence.
Despite being the worlds only Vedic (Hindu) country, animal sacrifices in temples are still rife. One of the major visions and for this Somayajña in Nepal is to demonstrate to the people that one can uplift all without any need for causing suffering for another sentient being.
We kindly request all who receive this who wish to participate or be involved in any way to please be in touch so we may involve you in the preparations and planning. We also wish to extend a sincere invitation for all to attend.
