Buddha Jayanti 2011

The Rshis orchestrated all the Vedic festivals to coincides with specific astronomical conjunctions so that the quality represented by the festival (and their deepest prayer was of course that all beings have a life of truth and happiness with artha (wealth) dharma (righteousness), kama (pleasure) and moksha (enlightenment). These four pillars formed the platform of human life, and neither should be neglected.

Today is Buddha Jayanthi. It is celebrated of course as the "birth" day of Lord Buddha but indeed it also coincides with the full moon taking place in the 2nd month of the Vedic new year which begins on the 14th of April when the Sun of course enters the 1st sign, Aries.

Each of us has a sleeping Buddha within, the dormant ability to have a totally awakened life is always there. At Vedic Books our very prayer is that this awakening can take place in all and we offer books that give all step by step little crumbs of wisdom to ultimately leady you to the cake of self-realization.

A model country with a government based on spiritual values and human rights is something that is so much needed in the world today. If the spiritual teachers that embody the teachings of Lord Buddha can run Tibet and lead this country, the world shall have such a bright son. Vedic governance was always based on leadership based on consciousness, not based on political appeal or brute force. The only way to make this happen is for all to be unified with a prayer that Tibet should be free. The power of prayer is immense. Jayatu Bhota (Victory to Tibet).

Vedic Society News: Nepal Somayagya 2011

It is with much delight that on this day we announce our plan to perform a Mahasomayajña in Nepal.

This will be the 2nd in a series of 108 Somayajñas. For anyone having visited Nepal you will see and know it is one of the most beautiful and mystical countries in the world though despite all it's greatness and wonderment, it has suffered greatly with political turmoil  and until recently a huge amount of bloodshed and violence.

Despite being the worlds only Vedic (Hindu) country, animal sacrifices in temples are still rife. One of the major visions and for this  Somayajña in Nepal is to demonstrate to the people that one can uplift all without any need for causing suffering for another sentient being.

We kindly request all who receive this who wish to participate or be involved in any way to please be in touch so we may involve you in the preparations and planning. We also wish to extend a sincere invitation for all to attend.

It is not every day we get to see our books being read in Antarctica and we're proud to share with you that a small parcel of our books is presently being read avidly in the South African base camp of Antarctica. Anton who is pictured here very kindly sent us a picture of him in the snow, not too far from the south pole. We must say this is the most far we have seen any of our books travel from Mother India and also the most remote place.
