Ecological Perspectives in Buddhism is a contemporary study of Buddhist approach to ecology.
Its basic focus is to bring out the Buddhist solution to the problems and difficulties of human life arising basically due to degradation or imbalances in internal and external ecologies. It reflects upon a wider range of areas of contemporary relevance and importance such as the relationship between mental and physical aspects of human life, causal explanation of ecological issues in the light of Pratityasamutpadvad and Nagarjuna's concept of Shunyta , social and legal ecology, tantra and vipashyana aspects of Buddhist yoga, Buddhist approach to deep ecology and sallow ecology, Virtue ethics and Buddhism.
The anthology tries to present an in-depth analysis of Buddhist response to ecological concerns. It can be beneficial to the students and scholars of various disciplines of social science as well as lay men interested in the subject.
About the Author:
Dr. Kali Charan Pandey is Reader in Department of Philosophy, DDU Gorakhpur University , Gorakhpur . He has taught at Deshbandhu College , Delhi University , M.P.S., Science College , B.R.A. Bihar University , Government College Dharamsala, H.P. He has been selected for Junior Research Fellowship and Teacher Fellowship (UGC). His writings have been awarded by Indian Council of Philosophical Research and Indian Philosophical Congress. He has successfully completed ‘Associateship' at Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Rastrapati Niwas , Shimla. He is Joint Secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Darshan Parishad since 2000. He has published about 40 research papers in journals and anthologies in India and abroad. His other published books are: Wittgenstein Ke Darshan Ki Ruprekha ( An Outline of Wittgenstein's Philosophy ) (2005), Tulnatmak Darshan , (2005), Perspectives on Wittgenstein's Unsayable (2007), and Ludwig Wittgenstein: Ethics and Religion (2007).
