The Universe consists of five elements (Panchmahabhoots) namely-Air, Earth, Fire, Space and Water and the human body is composed of different combination of these five elements. Ayurveda teaches us 3 principal bio-energies also known as the doshas i.e. Vata - Air, Pita - Fire and Kapha - water.

Nothing functions as in isolation and any imbalance leads to disorder and illness. Every individual's constitution has thus three principal elements -
