Although Jyotish has sen an explosion of publications in the West in recent years, this is the only book on the subject that is an unqualified "must have" for the Western reader. De Fouw and Svoboda remain totally true to the philosophy and scriptures of Vedic Astrology, while making it understandable to the Western reader. Unlike many, they have learned from an enlightened master and passed on their knowledge with the utmost care, true to the sacred teachings they have received. In their extraordinarily beautiful, clear style, the authors offer the best explanation of karma and the philosophy of the Vedic culture available in English. Their presentation of astrology is thorough and as complete as a single book can offer. Although the beginner will require additional books to learn the practical methods of casting charts, everyone from beginner to advanced absolutely requires this book. It repays careful study, it feeds the mind and soul with every reading, and may be one of the best books you'll ever read on any aspect of Vedic culture even if you have no interest in astrology. If you're on this site, you're interested enough to own this book. Budding astrologers - buy two and save on the postage for later, you're going to wear out the spine on this bible for astrologers...
