Having recently returned from a few weeks in Tibet, this book which I purchased a little before my journey there, while I was livining in the 'Tibet' of Kathmandu (Nepal), sheds a lot of light into the alchemy and mysticism which Tibet has become renowned for. The landscape in Tibet is vast, extreme and arduous and it is profoundly beautiful but also challenging due to it's extremes. This book takes the reader on a rapid journey into Tibet's heritage of magic and alchemy and is nicely written and well researched. It gives light on the technique named Tumo which Tibetan monks would use to keep the body warm. It even gives practical explanations for learning these methods yourself. It also covers many other aspects of Tibetan shamanic practices.
