This verse highlights the importance given to Sthaulya or Obesity even in the by gone centuries. An emaciated person was considered a boon rather than an obese person from the point of view of treatment because complications were more common in a Sthaulya rogi.

Even in the present era lifestyle related diseases like Hypertension (Raktagata Vata), diabetes (Prameha) Obesity (Sthaulya) etc. are gaining considerable attention. It is an irony that comforts, which a man achieves after intense efforts, are many times themselves becoming a major factor for causation of these diseases. Lack of physical exercises, improper diet and high levels of stress are the major contributors for these diseases.

All the theories and concept of Sthaulya and obesity have been explained explicitly. An important highlight of this book is that it starts from the basic i.e. from the physiology and ends at the main aim of the Vaidya i.e. Cikitsa. The concept of Agni in the formation of Medodhatu as well as Medo Roga is illustrated in a novel and easily understandable manner.
