-------------------N.A.Jayawickrama, Professor Emeritus, Universities of Peradeniya (1986)and Kelaniya (1987), has been a teacher of Pali form 1942 for almost six decades having held the chair of Pali and Buddhist Studies at peradeniya (1959-73) and Kelaniya (1973-85). He was awarded a fellowship at the school of Oriental and African studies, Univerisity of London (1969-70) and Churchill College, Cambridge (1978-79).He also closely identified himself with the academic activities of the Buddhist and Pali university of Sri Lanka, colombo and the Post-graduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of kelaniya from their inception.
