As in his previous books, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's newest book, Wisdom for the New Millennium, inspires, uplifts, instructs, and motivates seekers on a spiritual path. And for those not on a spiritual path, the book inspires, uplifts, instructs, and motivates.
The book is compiled of excerpts of discourses by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. In it, he addresses the concerns of all human beings: love, relationships, the purpose of life, wealth, human values, healing, death and beyond death. He talks about Jesus, the embodiment of love, and Buddha, the manifestation of silence. Other chapters discuss meditation, karma and reincarnation.
In a chapter entitled, "Human Values in the Classroom: A Talk to Teachers," Sri Sri recognizes the tremendous responsibilities of teachers and the challenges they face. What are human values that need to be encouraged? "Compassion, cooperation, friendliness, smiling, laughter, lightness, wanting to help, sense of belongingness, caring for each other-all of these qualities are there and they need to be nourished and brought out," says Sri Sri.
Within the chapters are questions that people have asked, and Sri Sri responds with down-to-earth, practical answers.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a world-renowned spiritual leader who has worked with some of today's most influential public figures to enhance awareness of human values and to inspire people to live these values in their daily lives. The first chapter of his book is his address to the United Nations' 50th anniversary celebration in 1995. He emphasizes we are all first part of the Divine, and secondly, we are human beings. Spirituality, without dogma, and with understanding which is all-encompassing, is the need of the 21st century.
