Vedic Society Book Review(What's this?)
Review of The Yoga of Herbs
Very rarely is a book written that can open one up so quickly and deeply to the inner magic that is Ayurveda. This book somehow takes one deep into the magical world of herbs through the eyes of the Rishis. It makes you aware that every plant under the living sun holds the power to heal and cure. After a deep study of this book you will be able to understand the rasa - taste, virya - energy, vipak - after-taste and prabha - special magic within any substance in the living and inert universe. Once these keys are understood you can know its healing usage, this is the science of Ayurvedic herbology. Dr. Lad has been instrumental in bringing Ayurveda to the West and David Frawley was once of his students and brings structure and wisdom to this book too. This is a long time favorite of ours and essential for anyone wanting to go beneath the surface in Ayurvedic Science.

Customer Reviews of The Yoga of Herbs
Review by Martin Gluckman: Monday 26 April, 2004
This was my first introduction to Ayurveda. I found it in the kitchen of a friend and slowly started to enter it's realm of plants and ancient wisdom. It opened my eyes to the five elements, to Ayurvedic understanding of life and plants and to a world beyond the world I had known to date. This is much more than a book about herbs, it is a journey into the mind of plants.
