A must read book for any one who is ambivalent about exploring the spiritual side of our existence .A well researched account of Yogees of his travels in the early 1930s through the length and breath of India. A journlist by profession, he has written the book as a first person account of dialogues, interviews with the Yogees he met .The style is engaging, racy and anecdotal. The details and descriptions of people and places he visited in India of 1930s is like our viewing video clip of the time. I for one read the book in one go.
Many of the Yogees about whom Paul has documented his interactions are not alive today. But some of the practices and theories he learns from them are known to us today. A western trained and rational person like Paul Brunton, could find the way to seek the truth "Who am I ? " by just being able to be in the presence of a Maharishee ( great Sage or Seer). Paul Brunton is told by different people that he will meet his Guru before returns to England because when a student is ready he will find a (Spiritual) teacher. How this prophecy comes true is what Paul Brunton share with us.
