The Art of Ancient India is the result of the author’s aim to provide such a synthesis. Noted expert Sherman E. Susan L. Huntington is distinguished professor merita in the History of Art at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. A recipient of the John Simon Guggenhelm Memorial Fellowship, she is also the author of the “Pala –Sena” school of Sculpture (Leiden 1983). Her husband John C. Huntington, is professor of the History of Art at the Ohi State University and a recipient of that institutions Distinguished Research Award for his studies on Buddhist Art. Highly respected in their fields, both Susan and John Huntington have published widely on various aspects of Asian Art.
