This book "Early Buddhist Metal Images of South Asia" is a joint work of Madhuri Sharma and D.P. Sharma, which includes origin of Metal Images in North and Central India, different stages of Gupta art and schools, catalogue data of a few rare images of Gupta period from Sarnath, Phophnar, Ramtek, Dhanesar-Khera, Nepal, Gujarat and South-East Asia. Other chapters of this book are on comparison of Gupta-Vakataka metal Images with Amaravati, Gandhar, Ceyclone & South-East Asia, History and religion of Gupta-Vakatakas and Bibliography.

About the Author:

MADHURI SHARMA did her M.A. in Ancient History. At present she is engaged in a research project on early metal Images of South Asia. She has done a project on documentation of Early Metal Images in Museums of U.P. She has published two books and sixty Research papers.DEO PRAKASH SHARMA did his M.A. in Ancient History, Culture and Archaeology from Allahabad University. He is working in National Museum, New Delhi. The author has visited the Museums of Asia Society New York, Harvard, Boston, Moscow, Paris, London, Oxford, Cambridge, Hong Kong and Singapore. The author has published 112 papers and seven books.
