The present book entitled "Glimpses of Early Indo-Indonesian Culture" is the collection of late Prof. Sarkar's sixteen research papers investigating cultural relations between India and Indonesia. These articles are on traffic routes between Bay of Bengal and South-East Asia; early phase of cultural contact between Java and Bengal; early cultural and political history; religion, epigraphical studies, language and literature. This volume contains five important chapters on epigraphical studies which are chronologically arranged. The book will prove both stimulating and instructive to the students and researchers working on Indo-Indonesian culture.

About the Author:

DR. BACHCHAN KUMAR specialised in South-East Asian history, art and culture. He has contributed a number of research papers on Thailand, Indonesia, Laos and Vietnam in learned journals. Dr. Kumar is on the editorial board of the South East Asian Review and life member of several professional bodies. Presently, he is working in the South-East Asian Studies Division of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi.
