The Iavara -pratyabhijna Karika (IPK) of Utpaladeva is the foremost work of Pratyabhijna Darsana and contains the core argumentation in support of this important Saiva Philosophy as well as refutations of and disputations with Buddhsit Vedantin and Ritualist siddhantas. In the centre of Kashmir Saivism the IPK is a foundational text not only in non-dualist Saivism but a ground work for Saiva and Sakta Tantrism. Dr. B.N. Pandit a scholar of Kashmir Shaivism honored for his work by President of India was formerly a Professor of sanskrit and Philosophy at HImanchal Pradesh University. After retirement he was a scholar at the Ranvir Kendriya Sanskrit Vidya Peeth. He is the author of specific Principles of Kahmir Shaivism and History of Kashmir Shavism. His Ph.D. is from Panjab University. He is currently a member of the faculty of the Muktabodha Indological Research Institute.
