Sangita Damodara written by Subhankara is a masterly compilation of almost all the allied topics of Indian music and Dramaturgy and is highly popular in Bengal as an authoritative text on the subject. Subhankara, a devout follower of Vaisnavism and a native of Bengal, lived in latter half of the 14th century A.D. He also wrote Hasta Muktavali a book mainly on Citrabhinaya.

Hari Ram Acharya is a retired Professor from the University of Rajasthan. He has translated the original Sanskrit text in Hindi along with an exhaustive introduction in English.
