Lokamanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who passed away little before Gandhiji becoming the supreme leader in Indian Politics, cannot be excluded from freedom struggle for India from 1880 to 1920. His role in Swadeshi movement (1905), Surat Session of Indian National Congress (1907) accord with Muslim League in Lucknow and in the formation of Indian Home Rule League was noteworthy. As a matter of fact it is true that behind the heritage of mass awareness which Mahatma Gandhi got during freedom struggle, was Tilak. He was more powerful in his time than Gandhiji and also an undisputed leader of India.
