Shatkhandagama is the most authentic and most important text of Jaina philosophy and doctrine. There is such a vast analytical literature of its commentaries that one is stunned at the immensity of the knowledge of the commentators and the intensity of their study. There has been a tradition in preceptorial lineages and generation after generation of ascetics and lay adherents of regarding its expert study as the touchstone of the dignity of learning. In the modern age it has been continuously studied at the university level. The present work Shatkhandagama Parisheeelan is the product of decades of contemplation and reflection by a scholar who has churned the original work and its commentaries and broken a new ground by editing it in modern style. In a way, the publication of Shatkhandagama Parisheelan is a historic event as the learned author has presented the essence of material compiled and published in nearly twelve thousand pages in a lucid manner.

All aspects from which the work should be studied at the highest and most elaborate levels have been incorporated in the in this study, as for instance: the background of the Agama literature, the methods of analysis employed by the original writers and the commentators, synopsis of the original work, comparative study of the work and other texts, important commentators their commentaries, evaluation of all this in a broad perspective etc.  An extensive list of the technical terms used in the 16 volumes of Shatkhandagama and its commentaries arranged in alphabetical order has also been attached. This unique material will indeed be useful and beneficial to students and researchers of Jaina philosophy and doctrine from many points of view.
