The narrator resembles a character in A La recherche du temps perdu, who searches in the realm of darkness for his lost Eurydice. In greek mythology the wife of Orpheus - eurydice is killed by a serpent on her wedding night. When the poet gets to the confines of his journey, he turns his head to see if Eurydice was following, and she is instantly caught back into Hades. The present tale of a displayed person in the modern world is that of Orpheus and his twice-lost Eurydice. Hw loses both lands ---- the ine he flees from and the one he adopts. About the Author :Iqbal Ahmed was born in Kashmir in 1968 and has lived in London since 1994.By turns poignant and funny, Sorrows of the Moon shows us the underside of a wide range of working milieus that we all too often take for granted. And it gently illuminates the plight of people who have escaped from one world into another in search of freedom, only to find confinement of another kind.
