The 16th century Telugu poet, Tenali Rama, also known as Vikata Kavi, was a court jester at Vijayanagar Empire, who gained popularity for his wit and prodigious poetry. He was one of the eight most prized poets of Raja Krishnadeva, who was known for his gift of gab and quick wit. He is also known for his stern and sarcastic remarks that put many conceited men to shame.
