Insects and Mites Infesting Medicinal Plants in India

The present book which is first of its kind in India, documents under diversity chapter all the 743 species of insects and mites belonging to. 92 families 383 genera and 44. orders which are known to occur or have been recorded by the present author on 300 species of medicinal plants commonly used in India for their therapeutic values. For each species, the medicinal plants on which it has been recorded and bio-ecological information wherever available or have been recorded by the author are provided. Under the chapter on medicinal plantwise occurrence of insects and mites all the 300 species of medicinal plants are listed alphabetically and apart from giving for each species, its scientific name, family name, vernacular names, medicinal uses etc. Dr. S. K. Gupta, Ph. D., D. Sc. is presently associated with the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur as consultant for a number of projects on medicinal plants. He is engaged in Acarological research activities for over thirty five years and has authored three books and five monographs published by the Govt. of India/ICAR and over two hundred research papers on diverse aspects of acarology in various journals of India and aboard.
