Contribution of Sanskrit to the Smrit literature is vast and all pervasive. The terms are generally applied to Dharmasastra. The works reflect the belief and practices of people and have influenced the writers and common man there as difference of opinion about number of smritis. Among the writers Parasara and Yanjavalkya stand out. In this edition the commentary of Madhavacharya and is known as Parasara Madhaviya.
