Human nature is not altogether unchanging but it does remain sufficiently constant to justify the study of ancient classics. The problems of human life and destiny have not been superseded by the striking achievements of science and technology. The Upanishads though remote in time from us, are not remote in thought. The Upanishads illustrate and illuminate these primary experiences.

DR S Radhakrishnan, philosopher, educationist and, above all a humanist and a visionary, distinguished himself equally in the fields of knowledge as well as statesmanship. After a brilliant academic career, he taught at t number of Indian and foreign universities and was the Vice-Chancellor of Benaras Hindu University. He was the President of India from 1961 to 1967 and has a large number of books on philosophy to his credit.
