This book is primarily intended to meet the requirements of all those scholars and other readers who take an interest in the many aspects of the linguistic and cultural relations between India and Indonesia. The author, not aiming at anything like completeness, has given a prominent place to more important topics and established facts and has focussed the attention not so much on etymological possibilities and speculations as on the main problems connected with the spread of Sanskrit in the Indonesian archipelago.
