Brahmnas, the Aranyakas, the Upanishads and the Sutras serves as the chiefsource
of human knowledge in the most ancient period. In the end the significant works
done on the history of Vedic and Sanskrit literature have been reviewed. The

About the Author ;Bidyut Lata Ray, born 1947, is a Ph.D. from Utkal
University, Bhubaneswar. She is presently having 27 years of experience in
teaching Sanskrit. R.M. Mahavidyalaya, Kantabad, Khurda.She is associated with
many research organisations and institutes. A good number of her research papers
on the topics of Jagannatha Cult, Vedic and Puranic studies have been included
in various scholarly journals and anthologies of national and international
repute. Eight oof her manuscripts have been published so far.
