The present edition has been updated by the
authors' daughter, Theresa Olson. The book includes personal footnotes and
the latest scientific research demonstrating how Maharishi's original vision of
creating 'Heaven on Earth' for all mankind has become a practical reality as we
begin the 21st century. The book goes a far way in showing
that Maharishi truly is 'a living saint for the new millennium'.
Helena and Roland Olson first encountered the
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1959 during their first visit to the United
States. Maharishi resided at their Los Angeles home for more than three months,
making it his base of operations. The present book is a commemorative reprint of
the Olson's 1967 original, with a new preface and eight appendixes added by
Theresa Olson, their youngest daughter, who was ten years old when she met the
Maharishi in 1959.
Review:
"The Olsons, who write in a pleasant, straightforward style, are unabashedly effusive (not to say cloying) in their adulation of this "living saint." Some readers will find their approach refreshingly heartwarming; sceptics will see the Maharishi as highly charismatic and controlling and the Olsons as easily manipulated. Even so, this book gives valuable insight into American's interest in Indian faiths. Recommended for public and academic libraries, especially those with substantial religion collections." - James F. DeRoche, Alexandria, VA
