The present volume comprises Sundar Kanda from the Tulasidasa Ramayana presented in the original Hindi, Bengali, a romanized phonetic transliteration, and a complete English translation. The story of Sundar Kanda tells how Pure Devotion in the form of a flying monkey, jumps across the sea to Lanka - the Kingdom of the Ego. Consciousness has lost his Divine Nature, his brother, who manifesto the light of wisdom. He sets out to get Herback. Along with brother Determination, Pure Division, Excellent Friend, Discrimination and a whole host of monkeys and bears, they locate the Queen of the Land of Eternal Peace, and prepare for the impending battle. After struggling with the Ego, ultimately consciousness brings about his demise. This beautiful chapter is filled with deep philosophy, with examples and admonitions to the purest ethical behaviour of the most tender dramatic pathos, which is why it si so readily accepted as a classical work of scripture throughout all of Asia.

About the Author:

Swami Satyananda spent fifteen years walking across the length and breadth of the Himalayas of India, studying Sanskrit, Hindi and Bengali, and learning the systems of worship wherever he went. He knows the mountain pathways as well as he understands Sanskrt roots, and he makes the verses of his translations come alive with experience and practial applications.
