Volume 1: This compilation is the first in the series, intended to bring together all the scattered scientific information regarding important actions and uses, Ayurvedic properties, formulations, preparations, therapeutic efficacy, substitutes, adulterants, pharmacognostic characters, chemical constituents, pharmacological and toxicological properties, propagation, cultivation, trade and commerce etc. on 40 medicinal plants with coloured photographs and exhaustive bibliography. Although a number of books on Indian medicinal plants have been published, their scope was confined to certain disciplines only. The book incorporates practically all aspects on these medicinal plants and would be useful for the research scientists and physicians. Contents: - Foreword

i. Classical (Sanskrit) names ii. Vernacular names Volume 7: Good deal of information and research work has been carried out during the last few decades on various facets of Medicinal Plants. The research scientists, government and non government organizations and individuals interested in plant drugs find it difficult to get on the spot information collectively on diverse aspects of medicinal plants as the literature is widely scattered. A need, therefore, was felt to collect all the information and compile it in the form of Database. As such efforts were made and the information was compiled under the title “Data Base on Medicinal Plants Used in Ayurveda” have been published. This publication being seventh in the series includes 30 medicinal plants. The selection of species is mostly based on medicinal plants listed in the Ayurvedic Formulary of India or the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India. Like the earlier volumes, it presents a brief and concise account about each species covering the selected aspects pertaining to Botanical / Ayurvedic nomenclature, Vernacular names, Distribution, Description, Flowering and fruiting period, Part used of the Plants alongwith photographs. Action and Uses including Ayurvedic properties and Dose have been given. The Pharmacognosy, Chemical constituents, Pharmacological activities, Toxicology, Trade and Commerce, Substitutes and Adulterants (if any) have also been included. Brief information about Formulations and Preparations, Propagation and Cultivation is provided. An exhaustive Bibliography containing uptodate references is incorporated.
